Stephanskirchen
Full-time
Fixed-term

What We Are Looking For

HERO Tech Center Germany GmbH is seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Senior Financial Accountant to oversee our financial accounting operations and ensure regulatory compliance. In this role, you will be the backbone of our financial reporting, taking full ownership of monthly, quarterly, and year-end closings. You will navigate seamlessly between local commercial law (HGB) and international standards (IFRS), acting as the key interface for tax advisors, auditors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Prepare and execute month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financial statements in accordance with HGB (German GAAP) and IFRS/US GAAP.

  •  Oversee the general ledger, perform complex account reconciliations, manage accruals, deferrals, and maintain fixed asset accounting (Anlagenbuchhaltung).

  • Prepare local tax filings, including monthly/quarterly VAT returns (Umsatzsteuervoranmeldungen), and handle European reporting requirements like Intrastat and EC Sales Lists (Zusammenfassende Meldung).

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for external auditors, tax authorities (Finanzamt), and company operational audits (Betriebsprüfungen).

  • Continuously analyze, automate, and digitalize accounting workflows and internal control systems (ICS).

  • Reconcile intercompany balances, support group consolidation, and deliver financial data package reports to headquarters.

Core Competencies

  • Dual-GAAP & Tax Expertise: Deep understanding of German HGB (commercial law) and IFRS/US-GAAP, paired with the ability to handle complex local tax filings (VAT, corporate tax) independently.

  • System & Process Ownership: High proficiency in major ERP systems (e.g., SAP, DATEV) and a proactive mindset for automating accounting workflows and ensuring GoBD compliance.

  • Audit-Ready Documentation: Strong capability to prepare clean, structured financial data and confidently act as the primary interface for external auditors and the German tax office (Finanzamt).

What We offer

  • Benefit from a generous allocation of 30 days of annual paid leave, significantly exceeding the statutory minimum requirements.

  • Access versatile transportation options, including a subsidized Deutschland-Ticket (Job-Ticket) for public transit or a Job-Bike leasing arrangement.

  • Enjoy daily meal support through lunch vouchers or access to our subsidized on-site dining facilities.

  • Secure your future with our company pension scheme (Betriebliche Altersvorsorge), featuring competitive employer matching contributions.

  • Full compliance and support for statutory maternity protection (Mutterschutz) to safeguard health and wellbeing.

  • Flexible arrangements for parental leave (Elternzeit) to ensure a healthy work-life balance for growing families.

Skills you bring with you

  • A university degree in Business Administration, Finance, or Accounting, AND/OR a certified German accountant degree (Geprüfter Bilanzbuchhalter / IHK).
  • 5+ years of progressive professional experience in financial accounting, ideally within an international corporate environment or a "Big 4" / reputable auditing firm.
  •  Profound, up-to-date knowledge of the German Commercial Code (HGB) and German tax law. Strong working proficiency in IFRS or US GAAP is required.
  • Deep hands-on experience with modern ERP systems—ideally SAP FI, Oracle, or DATEV (highly common for local compliance). Excellent command of MS Excel.
  • Professional fluency in both German and English is non-negotiable (German is essential for reading local tax codes and dealing with the Finanzamt; English is needed for group reporting).
  • Strong analytical mindset, structural problem-solving abilities, and a collaborative team player who can communicate complex data to non-financial teams.
